Potassium Iodide (KI) Pill Distribution Request

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has mandated that KI Pills be pre-distributed to residents within the primary zone of a nuclear installation.

The purpose of the WECHU's KI Pill Distribution program is to ensure that residents within the primary zone of the Davis-Besse and Enrico Fermi 2 nuclear plants have free access to KI Pills to store in their home if they so choose. While neither nuclear installations are regulated by the CNSC, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and the local municipalities want to ensure residents living within the primary zone are equally as prepared as all other Canadian residents living near a nuclear installation.
