RSV Vaccine and Monoclonal Antibody Order Form

Eligibility

Eligibility for Ontario’s publicly funded Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) prevention program has now expanded to include two streams. In Ontario, the active RSV season is generally from November to April. RSV vaccine and monoclonal antibody can now be co-administered with other vaccines. 

Older Adult RSV Prevention Program

  • Two products will be available: Arexvy and Abrysvo.
  • Studies show multi-year protection and individuals DO NOT need to receive a dose if they received one last season.

Older Adult RSV Prevention Program Eligibility for 2024-2025:

1 dose for residents of Ontario 60 years of age and older who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Residents of long-term care homes, Elder Care Lodges, or retirement homes.
  • Patients in hospital receiving alternate level of care (ALC) including similar settings (e.g., complex continuing care, hospital transition programs).
  • Patients receiving hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
  • Recipients of solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
  • Individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.

Infant RSV Prevention Program (Beginning September 2024)

  • Beyfortus monoclonal antibody is recommended for eligible infants and children.
  • Abrysvo may be offerred to individuals who are 32 to 36 weeks pregnant who will deliver near the start of or during the RSV season.

Infant RSV Prevention Program Eligibility for 2024-2025:

  • 1 dose for infants and children who are residents of Ontario and meet any of the following criteria:
    • Born in 2024 prior to the RSV season.
    • Born during the 2024/2025 RSV season. 
    • Children up to 24 months of age who remain vulnerable to severe RSV disease through their second RSV season, following discussion with a healthcare provider, including those with: 
      • Chronic lung disease of prematurity, including bronchopulmonary dysplasia/chronic lung disease.
      • Hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease. 
      • Severe immunodeficiency. 
      • Down Syndrome/Trisomy 21.
      • Cystic fibrosis with respiratory involvement and/or growth delay.
      • Neuromuscular disease.
      • Severe congenital airway anomolies impairing clearing of respiratory secretions. 
  • 1 dose may be offerred to individuals who are 32-36 weeks pregnant and who will deliver near the start of or during the RSV season.

Ordering Instructions

Please note the following before completing your order: 

  • Maintain no more than a one-month supply in your vaccine fridge as per Ministry Guidelines.
  • RSV vaccine order fulfillment is subject to vaccine availability. The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) will follow up if there are questions or delays in fulfilling your order.
  • You will be notified by the WECHU when your order is ready. For vaccine pick up, coolers must be pre-chilled between 2-8°C and all transport equipment must be present.
  • If you plan to have your order delivered by Medex; please contact Medex at 519-735-7273 to arrange your delivery.

Do all patients meet at least one of the following eligibility criteria?

1) Resident of Ontario who is at least 60 years of age and older and also one of the following:

  • Resident of a long-term care home, Elder Care Lodge, or retirement home.
  • Patient in hospital or similar setting (e.g., complex continuing care, hospital transition programs) receiving alternate level of care (ALC).
  • Patient receiving hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
  • Recipient of solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
  • Individual experiencing homelessness.
  • Individual who identifies as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.

2) Infant or child who is a resident of Ontario and meets at least one of the following criteria:

  • Born in 2024 prior to the RSV season (the National Advisory Committee on Immunization specifically recommends that infants 8 months of age or less be immunized).
  • Born during the 2024/2025 RSV season. 
  • Children up to 24 months of age who remain vulnerable to severe RSV disease through their second RSV season, following discussion with a healthcare provider, including those with: 
    • Chronic lung disease of prematurity, including bronchopulmonary dysplasia/chronic lung disease.
    • Hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease. 
    • Severe immunodeficiency. 
    • Down Syndrome/Trisomy 21.
    • Cystic fibrosis with respiratory involvement and/or growth delay.
    • Neuromuscular disease.
    • Severe congenital airway anomolies impairing clearing of respiratory secretions. 

3) Resident of Ontario who is 32-36 weeks pregnant and who will deliver near the start of or during the RSV season.
